Great Suffolk Street’s Noisy Trains!

If you are visiting this page then you, like us, have probably noticed that the trains that run past our homes have got MUCH LOUDER in the last few months!

We have compiled a letter to the CEOs of Network Rail, Thameslink and Southeastern to request that action be taken to reduce the train noise closer to the level before the engineering works of the weekend of 31 March 2023.

The letter was sent on 3rd of January 2024 and we are awaiting a response.

  • My name is Paul, and I live on Surrey Row, just off Great Suffolk Street. I noticed that the noise from the trains had increased significantly, and decided to try to do something about it - simple as that! I contacted Network Rail, but they basically said I was wrong, so it’s time to get together and make them listen!

Sound on! The buzzing sound from the first train, travelling south-to-north from Elephant & Castle to Blackfriars, has been happening since engineering works on the line over the weekend of 31 March - 2 April 2023.
