Local Area
Puy L’Eveque
Built into a hill overlooking a bend in the river, this medieval town is the hidden treasure of the Lot Valley. A maze of twisting alleyways and narrow staircases, a stroll around Puy L’Eveque gives one the impression of having travelled back in time to the 14th Century. Among the honey-coloured buildings one can find everything that one could want in a Lot Valley town - butcher, baker, post office, good bars and restaurants, a weekly market - but even without the need for the shops you should definitely take an afternoon to explore this extraordinary corner of the world.
chateau chambert and the vineyards of the lot
The Lot Valley is carpeted with the vineyards of the world renowned Cahors wines. Visit Château Chambert, just a two minute drive or a ten minute walk from Pech Sirech, to try and buy or to taste local wines over a meal at their in-house brasserie. For a more personal experience, on the other hand, just drop in on a neighbouring farm to try their own wines and buy something really unique.
Château Bonaguil
A spectacular 13th Century castle just half an hour’s drive from Pech Sirech, this monument is so well preserved that it feels like it is waiting for the return of a king and his knights. Surrounded by a pretty village with cafes for lunch, it’s a good spot for a morning expedition.
